Amazon Fire Game Controller Driver

It looks as though Amazon is quietly dropping support for its own gaming controller. According to the controller listing on Amazon, you can still use the Fire TV Game Controller with older models of the Fire TV Stick, but it won't work with the Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD - Pendant Design, Fire TV Edition smart TVs, or Fire TV Cube.

Apr 17, 2017 - I found an Amazon Fire TV game controller at Goodwill for a steal, but I don't have Fire TV. Can I hook this up to a PC, Xbox 360, or Xbox One? No power supply and driver needed, easy to use, high precision, high sensitive. No Cost EMI available on Amazon Pay ICICI credit cards on orders above Rs. 3000 Here's how. Taslar Mobile Cell Phone PUBG Game Controller Fire Button, Key Gamepad Shooter. Some game controller actions on Amazon Fire TV devices may raise more than one input event for a single action. For example, the D-Pad on the Amazon Fire Game Controller is an analog directional control (producing motion events), but a digital control on.

This may be why the controller is currently being offered for $19.99, which is a 60 percent discount over its usual price. As AFTVnews reports, the latest Fire OS software update (6.2.5.3) actually removed support for the controller from Amazon's third-generation Fire TV. So it's not just new devices, but existing ones having support removed.

The reason for dumping support most likely relates to how the controller connects to Fire TV devices. Rather than using Bluetooth, Amazon opted to create a proprietary connection protocol using Wi-Fi Direct because it offered lower latency. However, making your own protocol means ensuring it continues to work for every new Fire TV device released. Clearly Amazon doesn't want to, or can't keep doing that for some reason.

There's plenty of alternative wireless game controllers out there to use with your Fire TV device over Bluetooth. But the Fire TV Game Controller no longer looks like a good purchase and there's no sign Amazon is set to replace it with a new game controller model. For Amazon not to offer a new version suggests it wasn't selling well enough to warrant replacing.

Hello all.

I own an unrooted second-gen Fire TV running the latest update (5.0.3.1 at time of writing). I see this question posed a lot, so I'm gonna write up the controllers that I've personally tested. If you'd like to contribute your success story (or failure), make a write-up (and please note whether you're rooted or not, and anything you had to do to get the controller working).

'Tested' means I personally tested the controller; 'untested' means I got confirmation from someone else. Prices are in USD, using Amazon prices (lower prices may be available from other sellers; if Amazon did not sell the product, the least expensive seller that offers Prime shipping was used).
